Continuing efforts that started under the USAID Separation of Powers Program, 4 Digits Consulting (4DC) held on January 12th, 2015 an introductionary presentation for Belgrade Higher Courts’ staff on electronic communication with parties. The follow-up set of pro bono trainings will be organized in weeks to come, and at the end of the training process the court will be fully capable of electronically receiving and sending briefs and subpoenas in accordance with relevant procedural rules.
The benefits of e-filing are reflected through faster court proceedings, cost-savings, but also increased transparency and easier accessibility of courts processes. The Belgrade Higher Court, being one of the largest courts in the Western Balkans, represents a milestone in e-filing expansion since it is expected that large number of attorneys and citizens will engage in electronic communication with this particular court. Supported by 4DC, e-filing will gradually spread to the whole courts system as a logical next step in modernization of Serbian judiciary. 4 Digits Consulting trains Belgrade Higher Court on e-filing
